Comparative Private Law
|
---|---|
Description |
The course held by Prof. Alonso, Babusiaux, Hadžimanović and Heiss will introduce students to the methods of Comparative Private Law. In doing so, the course will present topical examples of Comparative Private Law in the field of Contract Law, Property Law and Consumer Protection Law. The Course has been remodeled. It focusses on an introduction into the methodology of comparing legal systems and into an introduction to some legal systems relevant for current legal debate in private law. The new structure shall allow students to be better prepared when attending the course and to give greater coherence to the course for the sake of all participants. Students are requested to read the relevant chapters in Bogdan’s work (details see below) before each class; details on the chapters to consult can be found in the schedule for the course. Further reading material will be published as pdf in the olat course on decision of each teacher; please note that also the additional material is part of the compulsory reading. It will be accessible on the olat-group established for this course at least one week before the class in question.
Examination: The examination will be either in writing or an oral one. The choice will be made in function of the number of students enrolled after the Stornierungsfrist and will be communicated on the Olat platform. In any event, there will be a special examination for mobility students in December; the examination for regular students will take place in January during the usual period. Please note, that the inscription for both examinations must be done via the dean’s office (Dekanat, Prüfungsteam) and that the teachers cannot help with this.
Master Thesis: All ordinary professors of the law faculty, i.e. Alonso, Babusiaux, Heiss, gladly accept requests for master theses in the field of Comparative Law. Please note, that Dr. Hadzimanovic will not be able to supervise a master thesis. |
