Lectures in the study programs of the Master of Law: Course catalog
Contact: janice.trachsel@ius.uzh.ch
The lecture is divided into two main sections, one covering state-church law and the other Catholic and Protestant canon law. After an introduction to the fundamentals of state-church law, the section on state-church law looks at various current issues of state-church law in Switzerland (in particular the dualism of church and state-church law, church tax liability for companies, employment of clergy in parishes). The section on Catholic and Protestant church law also begins with an introduction to the basic structures. Here, too, topics currently under discussion will be examined in more detail (in particular legal protection in the Catholic Church, missio canonica, grounds for divorce, the question of spiritual ministry).
The lecture will take place as a face-to-face event. In the days following the lecture, a recording will be available as a podcast in the Legal History App.
