The legal systems of the present day are the result of historical developments, some of which have taken place over a long period of time. For this reason alone, basic knowlegde of legal history is indispensable for understanding current law.
The course builds on the lecture Legal History from the fall semester 2023. The focus is on the analysis and interpretation of selected legal history texts. Basic knowlegde of legal history from the lecture is assumed, deepened and applied by the students in the interpretation by means of an analytical approach.
Together with the lecture from the fall semester 2023, the exercises are part of the compulsory module Legal History (BLaw). The module is completed by a written examination based on both courses.
The exercises for Legal History Group 2 will take place as face-to-face events. In the days following the lecture, a recording will be available as a podcast in Legal History App and OLAT.
The exercises are accompanied by the chair's homepage, LHA (Legal History App) and OLAT (Online Learning And Training). Here you will find the relevant information, documents and media as OLAT with regard to the legal history exercises in spring semester 2024. In addition, push notifications can be sent to you directly by the professors via LHA, e.g. in the event of a lecture postponement.
As in the previous semester, the online tutorial LHO (Legal History Online) and the Digital Flashcards are also offered as support. LHO is intended as a multimedia learning aid to accompany the lecture and self-study. LHO partly goes beyond the lecture material and is particularly recommended for understanding and consolidation. Digital Flashcards are used to start learning or to repeat the basics. Please note that these digital flashcards are only intended as support and are not sufficient for successfully passing the exam.
