Studying in Switzerland (Swiss Outgoings)

Students at Swiss universities have the possibility to study one or two semesters at another Swiss university (CH-Unimobil-Program) or take individual courses at another Swiss university (Module Mobility/Studying At More Than One University). The mobility stay is possible during the advanced level of the Bachelor's program or during the Master's program.

Participants in the programs remain enrolled at the University of Zurich during the mobility stay and pay the tuition fees here. At the host university, no fees need to be paid.

Bachelor students who want to take Master's modules in advance, must have already successfully completed 150 ECTS Credits at Bachelor's level at RWF UZH at the time of module booking at the partner faculty (cf. § 39 RVO). However, booking Master's modules during the Bachelor's program is not possible at all host universities. Please check with the respective university.

Important changes in Swiss mobility in the same language area

Coursework at Bachelor's level completed from fall semester 2021 onwards as part of Swiss mobility or as individual courses at another Swiss law school in a German-speaking country will be recognized  as core elective and elective modules and the credits are transferred to the Bachelor of Law UZH.
This concerns credits obtained at the law faculties of the Universities of Basel, Bern, Lucerne and St. Gallen as well as German-language credits at the University of Fribourg. The new regulations entered in force as of fall semester 2021.

Information on Recognition and Transfer of Credit

Students should familiarize themselves beforehand with the possibilities of credit recognition and credit transfer for modules completed at the host university. The possibilities for transfer of credit already have an impact on the study planning before the start of the mobility exchange.

In your own interest, you should have clarified all questions relating to the recognition of the Master's modules of the host university with the Student Center of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich (RWF UZH) before the start of your mobility stay. If relevant facts change during the mobility stay, the Student Center must be contacted immediately.

Recognition and Transfer of Credit for Bachelor students

Consult the crediting tables before starting your exchange semester. The tables are prepared each August for the following academic year and indicate which modules can be credited for the respective host universities. Apply for recognition and of the credits before starting your mobility. For the procedure regarding the recognition and transfer of credits of the modules, please refer to the information on the Recognition and Transfer of Credit for Mobility page .

Recognition and Transfer of Credit for Master students

As soon as the course catalogue of the host university for the upcoming mobility semester is published, you should familiarize yourself with it. Select the Master's modules that you would like to take at the host university. Apply for recognition and of the credits before starting your mobility. For the procedure consult the Recognition and Transfer of Credit for Mobility page.
