Prof. Dr Christine Kaufmann was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the University of Zurich on 1 October 2002. On 1 September 2003, she was appointed Full Professor of Constitutional, Administrative and International Law at the University of Zurich. Prior to this, she worked at the Swiss National Bank from 1991 to 2000, where she most recently served as Director of Human Resources. Before her appointment at the University of Zurich, she spent time as a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan Law School and held the position of Director of Legal Research at the World Trade Institute (WTI) at the University of Bern.
In 2009, she initiated the establishment of the Centre of Excellence for Human Rights at the University of Zurich and has chaired its steering committee ever since.
From 2019 to 2025, Christine Kaufmann served as Chair of the OECD Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct.
