Summers Sarah: The Right to a Defence (in progress)

This publication is intended to present and reflect on the results of the Trial Observation Project in detail. The first part will describe the objectives and methodology of the project and outline the dominant concepts of procedural fairness. A second part will analyse the implementation of the rights relevant to procedural fairness in court practice. It focusses on the extent to which these rights are applied in different courts. A third part analyses the dominant concepts of procedural fairness and questions them on the basis of the knwoledge gained. The results of the study are intended to form a basis for a new approach to procedural fairness.
