Master’s and Bachelor’s Theses

Written assignments are usually completed as part of a seminar. Detailed information on formal and content requirements can be found below.

In exceptional cases, it is possible to write a Master’s thesis outside a regular course under the supervision of Prof. Lorenz Langer in Public and International Law (see § 41 StudO RWF). Interested students should contactlst.langer@ius.uzh.ch with a specific topic proposal, including planned scope and schedule.

If capacity allows, please submit a detailed proposal including:

  • Thesis title

  • Exposé (max. one A4 page) with a clear research question

  • Preliminary structure

  • Preliminary bibliography

  • Semester in which the thesis is to be credited

Supervision will be confirmed based on these documents. Theses should be submitted by the end of May (spring semester) or the end of November (autumn semester). Please note that revisions are not envisaged.
