The Center for Islamic and Middle Eastern Legal Studies (CIMELS) supports advanced research on Islamic Law, contemporary legal systems in the Middle East and other Muslim countries by collaborating with individual scholars and various academic institutions.
CIMELS envisages implementing its research goals through mutually rewarding partnerships and networks to share skills, develop relevant resources and create capacity to facilitate in-depth academic enquiries.
CIMELS produces various publications such as monographs, legal opinions and policy papers. These are aimed at different audiences, including scholars, policy- and opinion-makers and the wider public to promote a better understanding of the diversified and complex issues surrounding Islamic law.
CIMELS offers advanced training courses and educator workshops. In addition, the Center may also provide legal consulting to law firms, courts and international organizations.
