Visiting Researchers

Monika Stempkowski holds a PhD in law as well as a master's degree in psychology, which she obtained from the Universities of Vienna and Urbino. She is a qualified clinical and health psychologist and a registered mediator. She has been researching and teaching at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Law since 2012. She specialises in the areas of prison studies, mentally ill offenders, legal psychology, drug-related crime and criminal procedure research. She heads the Legal Psychology Research Centre at the Faculty of Law and is a member of the Independent Control Commission of the Austrian National Intelligence Authority. Previous research visits have taken her to Brisbane and Berlin.
