Rights For and By (Non-)Humans? Rethinking the ECHR System together with Prof. Dr. Alice Margaria, Eloise Ward,  and ECtHRJudge Georgios Serghides (European Court of Human Rights) on 26 to 27 November 2026 (Strasbourg, France)

This seminar explores the (non-)human dimensions of human rights within the ECHR system. It focuses on two main questions: the (non-)human judge—raising the question “Who is the Court?”—and the (non-)human applicant—namely, “Who is the Court for?”.

All registered students must attend an introductory session, which will take place at UZH on 29 April 2026 at 10.15–12 AM in RAI-F-041. During this meeting, the concept note, list of topics, and seminar timeline will be presented.
