Legal Sociology (MLaw)

General Description

This course undertakes an in-depth discussion on the fundamental issues concerning the relationship between law and society, with questions in respect to history, methodology and philosophy of science playing an important part. In doing so, specific questions on the functioning and meaning of law in modern legal systems will be addressed. The significance of legal sociology in the various workings of the law will be elucidated on the basis of practical examples.

This lecture will be held in English.

Information

The lecture will be held on Tuesday (10:15-12:00) in person (SOD-1-101). The material is published on OLAT.

The exam will be in oral or written form and will take place at the end of the semester. The form of the exam will be determined after the expiration of the deadline for booking courses and will be published in the course index latest four weeks prior to the courses' ending.

There will be no live broadcast this semester. Podcasts are only offered in exceptional cases for people with disabilities or unavoidable family care responsibilities. This must be communicated to the chair in writing by email after the first session at the latest.
