This award is given out by the Walther Hug Foundation about every two years and recognizes a law scholar in Switzerland for his or her outstanding achievements related to law, usually for a lifetime’s work.
2016
Prof. Dr. Claire Huguenin († 27. Juni 2018)
Honored, in particular, for her activities as part of the Swiss Code of Obligations 2020 research project, which she initiated and oversaw together with Prof. Dr. Reto Hilty. The Board of Trustees also honored Prof. Huguenin’s special commitment to teaching, as seen in her innovative use of teaching formats like the moot court, the Vis Moot School Switzerland and e-learning.
2010
Prof. Dr. Georg Müller
Honored in recognition of his theoretical work on Swiss constitutional and administrative law, his many years of academic study of the law and the accumulation of legal doctrine as well as his teaching.
1999
Prof. Dr. Niklaus Schmid
The award was bestowed in view of his high level of academic achievement. Through his work, Professor Niklaus Schmid has enriched Swiss criminal law in a remarkable way, and combined doctrine and practice in a useful dialogue.
Walther Hug established the “Professor Walther Hug Foundation for the Promotion of Legal Research” during his lifetime. His goal was always to promote legal research and to make such research useful in practice. More information can be found here.
